Getting started with BetterTradeJourney

Published Aug 11, 2026

From a new account to real statistics takes about five minutes, and most of it is MetaTrader 5 producing the file.

1. Create your account

Sign up with an email address and a password. No card is required to create an account or to import your first statement.

2. Export a report from MetaTrader 5

In MT5, open the Toolbox (Ctrl+T), select the History tab, set the period to cover the trades you want, then right-click and choose Report. Save it as HTML or XLSX.

3. Upload it

Open Import and drop the file in. Every closed position is parsed — prices, lot size, commission, swap, stop loss, take profit and timestamps — and your account is created from what the file contains.

4. Read the dashboard

Win rate, profit factor, expectancy, average R:R, maximum drawdown and your equity curve are computed immediately. The calendar shows realised P&L per day, which is the fastest way to spot a day that cost more than it felt like.

5. Start journaling the part that is not in the file

Open any trade and add why you took it, what you saw, and the strategy it belongs to. The import gives you the facts; this is the part that later answers 'why'.
